Yishun/Sembawang Heritage Trail
21 international students and some of their family members from Primary 3 to 5 went on a Yishun / Sembawang Heritage Trail in the afternoon of Friday, 19 July 2013. Besides visiting heritage sites and local landmarks like Chong Pang City, Beaulieu House and the statue of Lim Nee Soon, the children also had the opportunity to take in the stunning panoramic views of the waters of Seletar Reservoir and its adjacent greenery from the top of the rocket-shaped iconic tower. Another highlight of the trail for the participants was the chance to visit one of Singapore oldest traditonal cakeshop, Gin Thye Cakemaker along Sembawang Road, where they got to sample freshly baked traditional pastries and candies such as Tao Sha Pia and Peanut Brittle. At the end of the trail, each of them brought home a goodie bag of traditional pastries and confectionary to share with their families. Overall, it was a great success as the children enjoyed themselves thoroughly!'
