Dialogue Session with Mr Heng Swee Keat
On the morning of Sunday 14 July 2013, Mrs Tan and five of our prefects were invited to attend the launch of Nee Soon East Community Club Upgrading Programme at the Nee Soon East Community Club. The Minister of Education, Mr Heng Swee Keat, and Grassroot Advisor, Mr Patrick Tay, were there to officiate the launch. Through the exhibition panels and 3D model of the future Nee Soon Community Club, they got to know what the Nee Soon East residents had to look forward to once upgrading had been completed.
In addition, they had the opportunity to engage in a dialogue session with Mr Heng and Mr Tay where they gain new perspectives and ideas. Highlights of the session included questions raised by residents about the education system and the assistance provided to the elderly and needy of the area. Siti Umairah of Bte Ahmad Zaidi of 6Courage summed up the happenings of the morning as she said, “Through the dialogue session, I learnt many facts about Nee Soon such as its population and the number of elderly living here. This has definitely been an eye-opening experience for me.”
