Prefects’ Training Second session

On 3rd August, the prefects were split into two groups and focused on one of the model from the 5 practices of exemplary leadership by Kouzes and Posner. Primary 4 and 5 prefects focused on Inspire a Shared Vision while the Primary 2 and 3 prefects focused on Model the Way.

The Primary 4 and 5 prefects played a game named Police and Thief. Pupils were grouped into groups of 4s. Each member had a turn describing an object or a place without saying the keywords written in the card. From the game, pupils learnt effective verbal communication skills. They learnt how to convey a message clearly and loudly and the importance of choosing the right words to convey the right message.

The Primary 2 and 3 prefects carried out a fun and challenging activty. Pupils were grouped into groups of 4s. Each group was given a bowl of coloured beans. Each group had to remove white beans from the bowl using their chopsticks. From the game, pupils learnt the importance of teamwork. Pupils also learnt that a member could lead others by modeling the right way and encouraging others.

Before ending the session, the prefects reflected on what they have learnt.
