Empowering Families through Family Matters@School
FamilyMatters! is an initiative by Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF). It empowers you with the resources, knowledge and skills to build a strong, happy family. FamilyMatters@School equips parents and young adults with skills to nurture positive family relationships. The school supports this initiative by organising family life programmes that will help you better connect with your children.
Workshop 1: Thrills and Spills of Social Media
Parents gained a better understanding of youths’ mobile habits, some of the mobile technology concerns and also understand how to connect with their children more effectively in this digital age. Practical tips, rules and guidelines to managing the child’s mobile usage were also shared that day.
Workshop 2: Connect & Engage Your Children/Teens (Keep Calm! Talk without fighting)
Parents during the workshop discovered common pitfalls that they made in their communication with their children. They also learned effective ways of communicating with their children during breakout sessions
Positive Parenting Programe (Triple P) for P3 & 4 Parents
Seminar 1: The power of positive parenting
Sharing time by parents
Seminar 2: Raising Confident, Competent Children
Small group sharing by parents
Generally, parents learned many valuable positive parenting tips not only from the various speakers but also from one another. They enjoyed the learning and thanked the school for arranging such workshops for parents.
